SPEAKERS:
Mary Dyson Mary Dyson Ph.D., C. Biol., F.A.I.U.M. (Hon.), F.C.S.P. (Hon.)
Mary Dyson is a world renowned lecturer on the effects of laser therapy on inflammation and tissue repair. She is an Emeritus Reader in the Biology of Tissue Repair at King’s College (KCL), University of London, UK and an Honorary Reader in the Department of Physiology, University College, London. Dr. Dyson joined the Department of Anatomy, Guy’s Hospital Medical School as a Research Associate in 1964, and taught Gross Anatomy and Histology there from 1970 until her retirement in 1998. She founded the Tissue Repair Research Unit in 1986 and was its Director until 1998. She is the author of over 100 research publications in peer-reviewed journals, is one of the editors of the 37th and 38th editions of Gray’s Anatomy, and has contributed to text books on wound healing, physiotherapy and ultrasound. She lectures internationally and has presented over 200 invited presentations on topics which include diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound, laser therapy, wound healing, tissue repair and regeneration, injury and repair related aspects of sports medicine. She was a founding member of the World Association for Laser Therapy (WALT) and is a member of the North American Association for Laser Therapy (NAALT).

Michael Patterson Michael Patterson, M.Sc., B.M.Sc.
Michael Patterson graduated with a Master of Science degree in Medical Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario in 2006. Following his graduation he joined Meditech and has worked with Dr. Kahn in numerous endeavors including his book publication in addition to assisting with the laser report. During both his undergraduate and graduate work he was involved in developing diagnostic methods to study cellular metabolism during exercise. During this time he also published and lectured on the transmission properties of light in tissue and more recently has lectured throughout North America on the basics of laser therapy. Currently he is involved in working to create an association for laser therapy device manufacturers and continuing to work in education and research with Meditech.
